(Food insecurity affects a large portion of our patient’s families and negatively influences their physical health and well-being. This issue can only be addressed if we screen for it, discuss it, and provide resources. This session will highlight the problem of food insecurity, its impact, and what clinicians in all specialties can do about it, especially the medical home.)
Objectives
At the end of this session, participants should be able to...
- Define the concepts and scope of food and nutrition security nationally and globally
- Explain drivers of food insecurity and associated disparities
- Describe the relationship between food insecurity and health outcomes
- Utilize newly learned tools to address and mitigate food insecurity and promote nutrition security
