Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the Young and Project ADAM National 2027

Coral Gables, FL US
February 1, 2027 to February 3, 2027

February 1-3, 2027 | Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, Coral Gables, FL 33134

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the Young and Project ADAM National 2027 Symposium is dedicated to advancing awareness, prevention, recognition, emergency response, and long-term care for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in children, adolescents, and young adults.

These two meetings are united by a shared mission born from profound loss. The Fouad Mobassaleh Memorial Symposium honors a young life lost to an underlying heart rhythm condition, while Project ADAM was founded after Adam Lemel, who suffered sudden cardiac death while playing basketball at his high school in 1999. In response to tragedy, both families transformed grief into action through education, policy, training, and preparedness—striving to spare other families from similar loss.

Together, these meetings convene leaders in cardiology, electrophysiology, genetics, emergency response, school health, sports medicine, public health, and advocacy to address the full continuum of care—from risk prediction and prevention to school emergency preparedness, post-event recovery, and community reintegration. Our shared goal is to advance school cardiac readiness and ensure that healthcare teams, emergency medical services, legislators, families, and communities work together to reduce preventable deaths from sudden cardiac arrest.

Target Audience

Medical residents, trainees, school administration, emergency medical services, nurses, cardiologists, primary care providers, and electrophysiology, sports medicine

Learning Objectives

This educational program intends to meet the following objectives:

  1. Prevention and Early Identification: The conference emphasizes new strategies to identify youth at risk for sudden cardiac arrest before a catastrophic event occurs.
  2. Evidence-Based Emergency Preparedness: Project ADAM sessions focus on the practical systems schools need in place to respond immediately and effectively to cardiac emergencies.
  3. School and Community Partnership: A recurring message is that cardiac safety is not the responsibility of one person or one department; it depends on coordinated teamwork across the community.
  4. Recovery and Reintegration: The program goes beyond emergency survival to address the emotional, educational, and medical needs of students, families, and school staff after a cardiac event.
  5. Sustainability, Policy, and Advocacy: Long-term success depends on leadership support, legislation, funding, training, and continued accountability.
