Melissa Olen, MSN, FNP-C

Ms. Melissa Olen is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in electrophysiology at the Heart Institute of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, South Florida’s only specialty-licensed children’s hospital, where she has dedicated over 23 years to advancing care for children with heart rhythm disorders. Her passion for addressing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in the young has driven impactful initiatives, including the development of South Florida Project ADAM, a program that has saved lives through community education and preparedness.
As Project ADAM Director, Ms. Olen and her team have trained 100% of public schools in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties to be prepared for cardiac emergencies, while continuing to expand these lifesaving efforts throughout other regions of Florida.
Internationally recognized as an IBHRE-certified Cardiac Device Specialist and Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society, Ms. Olen has held prominent leadership roles, including serving on the Executive Board of the Pediatric Arrhythmia and Congenital Electrophysiology Society and chairing the Quality Improvement Council for physicians and allied professionals nationwide. She is also the Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider Manager at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and the first nurse to serve on its Board of Directors.
A prolific academic, Ms. Olen has authored peer-reviewed articles, cardiology textbook chapters, and presented at national and international scientific meetings. Her contributions continue to shape pediatric cardiology and electrophysiology, inspiring innovation, education, and advocacy in healthcare.
