Dr.  Sanchez Vegas earned her medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and then completed her pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. This was followed by an infectious disease fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. She then joined the Division of Infectious Diseases at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in 2009. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, She is also certified in travel health.
