Dr. Marina G. Villani Capó is employed by Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System. She is a child and adolescent psychologist within the Department of Psychology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital with a specialty in pediatric psychology, trained to work with children facing chronic medical conditions. In addition, Dr. Villani Capó serves as a consultant within the Craniofacial Center and as the mental health provider at the Sickle Cell Comprehensive Care Center. She earned her doctorate from Carlos Albizu University, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dr. Villani Capo then completed a postdoctoral internship in clinical psychology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child and pediatric psychology at the same institution.
Dr. Villani Capó specializes in consultation-liaison services, pediatric health conditions, assessment, adjustment disorders, medication adherence, pain management, trauma, and end of life. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and Society for Pediatric Psychology. Dr. Villani Capó has presented at national conferences and local and international media on topics related to child and adolescent psychology.
Dr. Villani Capó sees patients at the Nicklaus Children's Hospital main campus. She is fluent in English and Spanish and provides bilingual consultation, assessment and therapy.
