Richard has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years working primarily in critical care, emergency room, flight nursing and most recently, in the prevention of sudden death in the young.
His nursing passions are advocating for nursing and improving out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rates.
He served as President of the Georgia Nurses Association from 2018-2021. Leading the Association through the pandemic. His advocacy work for nursing includes the removal of home addresses from the Board of Nursing website and the Mandatory reporting law.
He serves on multiple national and local committees to improve out of hospital cardiac arrest survival. He served as the Committee Co-Chair of the Citizens CPR Foundation’s Disparities and Inequities of Resuscitation, The Project ADAM Advisory Committee on preventing sudden death in the young and is an invited guest on the Governor’s Panel on Child Fatalities.
He is currently the Executive Director of the Georgia Nurses Association Peer Assistance Program and a consultant in preventing sudden death in the young.
