General Dentist Training in Pediatric Dentistry 2021

Doral, FL US

Through a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Oral Health Workforce Training grant managed by the Florida Department of Health, Nicklaus Children's Hospital has developed a hybrid training program to enhance the pediatric dentistry skills of general dentists in Florida.

The training consists of a 14-hour didactic and preclinical curriculum encompassing the areas of prevention, behavior management, endodontics, oral medicine, oral pathology, bio-materials and restorative dentistry, and motivational interviewing. This training program will enhance the pediatric skills of general dentists and allow them to increase the number of children they serve to include infants and toddlers, as well as modify the traditional approach of relying on restorative care by placing additional emphasis on prevention and disease management.

Participants will be required to take a pre-assessment quiz prior to watching the recorded lecture videos, which can be completed on the participants own time. Once all lecture videos have been completed, participants will be required to complete the post-assessment quiz. This virtual training program must be completed prior to participants attending their pre-registered in-person training session.

Target Audience

The General Dentist Training Program in Pediatric Dentistry is exclusively designed for general dentists serving the Medicaid population and working in Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas in Florida.
