(Biomedical ethics is not well taught in medical schools and is not well covered in residency yet, the pediatrician faces very challenging ethical dilemma related to care of patients. Using case-based discussion of examples of challenging bioethical cases, this workshop will highlight the bioethical principles and assist the attendees with thinking through these cases. Also the workshop will have built-in time for interactive discussion.)

(In cases of trauma, immediate action by medical personnel and bystander are key to a better outcome for the victims. This session will have a combination of didactic and hands-on training for Stop the Bleed. These lifesaving techniques, including the appropriate way of applying a tourniquet, can be taught by the participants to their office staff. There is built-in time for all participants to practice.)

(Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in the young is a devastating incident which may be due to silent problems including arrhythmias, prolonged QT syndrome, and HOCM. Project ADAM is an initiative that can be replicated in many communities to prepare communities and schools to screen and take action in the event of a SCA. This session will describe a pilot project ADAM implemented at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Data will be shared and guidance provided for communities interested in replicating the project.)
