Dr. Alessandro Villa, is the founding Chief of Oral Medicine, Oral Oncology at the Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Villa specializes in treating oral mucosal and salivary gland diseases, oral precancers and oral complications from cancer treatment. He also serves as a Professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University and remains faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in the Department of Orofacial Sciences. He previously directed the oral medicine residency programs and oral oncology fellowships at UCSF and Harvard.  Dr. Villa’s research focuses on oral dysplasia, and oral complications from cancer therapy. He works closely with several organizations to reduce the burden of HPV related cancers.  Dr. Villa has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in dental and medical journals including JCO, JAMA and Cancer, and several book chapters.  He is President Elect of the International Society of Oral Oncology.
