Jonanlis Ramirez Alcantara, MD
Dr. Jonanlis Ramirez Alcantara is a pediatric endocrinologist within the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She pursued a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical school in Boston. Her clinical interests include obesity, thyroid disorders, adrenal insufficiency, growth disorders, and diabetes. She is considered one of the world's experts in adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).
Dr. Ramirez Alcantara was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She graduated magna cum laude in medicine from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) in the Dominican Republic, the first university in the American continent founded in 1538. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Lincoln Medical Center, affiliated with Weill Cornell University Medical College in New York City. She was appointed chief resident during her last year of residency.
Dr. Ramirez Alcantara is board certified in general pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, Pediatric Endocrine Society, and American Diabetes Association. Her research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences.
