Magaly Diaz-Barbosa, MD
Medical Director, NICU
Dr. Magaly Diaz-Barosa is an experienced and dedicated neonatologist with a commitment to patient care, teaching, and research. She maintains board certification in Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. She has served as the Medical Director of the NICU at NCH since 2011 and as Director of the Neonatology Division since 2015. In addition to being an active member of the medical staff since 2010, she is a clinical professor of Pediatrics at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Before coming to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Dr. Diaz-Barbosa served as an attending neonatologist at the University of Miami for 20 years. Her clinical interests include personalized medicine using rapid genome sequencing to support medical care for critically ill infants and children in intensive care units suffering from conditions of unknown etiology. She has multiple publications in renowned journals and participates regularly in scholarly activities.
Dr. Diaz-Barbosa completed her pediatric residency, including a chief resident year at Westchester County Medical Center in New York. Subsequently, she completed a neonatal/perinatal fellowship at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey.
