Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is the director of the Division of Allergy & Immunology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. She completed her pediatric residency program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in allergy and immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center through the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is board certified in general pediatrics and allergy & immunology. Her clinical interests include anaphylaxis, food allergy, suspected or confirmed primary immunodeficiency disorders, recurrent infections, drug allergy, urticaria, angioedema, hereditary angioedema, atopic dermatitis, and stinging insect hypersensitivity/ venom allergy, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has held numerous national positions, including the Past Chair of the anaphylaxis Committee at the AAAAI and is currently a member of the Immune Deficiency Foundation Medical Advisory Committee. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her dedication, academic achievement, and accomplishments.
Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo has conducted basic laboratory research, makes presentations nationally and internationally, and published numerous articles and textbook chapters on the topics of primary immunodeficiency disease, food allergy, and anaphylaxis. She is actively involved in research studies on the topics of food allergy, anaphylaxis, and primary immunodeficiency.
Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo provides patient care to patients with suspected or confirmed primary immunodeficiency disorders, recurrent infections, allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, anaphylaxis, drug allergy, urticaria, angioedema, and venom allergy. She performs testing and oral challenges to suspected food allergens, penicillin drug testing with challenge or desensitization, pulmonary function tests, and immunotherapy for venom hypersensitivity, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
