Malvina Duncan, RN, CPN
Malvina Duncan, RN, CPN is the Injury Prevention Coordinator for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital where she is part of the Trauma Program and the Coordinator for Miami-Dade County’s Safe Kids Coalition. In both roles Malvina serves as a liaison between the community and the healthcare system, communicating injury trends and prevention methods accordingly. Ms. Duncan is a certified pediatric nurse with over 25 years in the healthcare field now specializing in the prevention of unintentional injuries to children by coordinating efforts to bring awareness to, educate, and advocate for the families of Miami-Dade County and surrounding communities. Additionally, she shares her passion for keeping children safe with others in the healthcare profession serving as a resource and mentor to her peers. Ms. Duncan Co-Chairs the Miami-Dade County Injury Prevention Coalition, and the Miami-Dade County Drowning Prevention Coalition, is a Child Passenger Safety Instructor and is a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses. Through the programs she coordinates, Malvina identifies and helps to address the needs of our diverse community, often filling in gaps for otherwise underserved parents, caregivers, and children of Miami Dade. Ms. Duncan’s experience in The United States Army as a Combat Medic (EMT) and later as a Registered Nurse in the Division of Preventive Medicine combined with her love of children has led her to choose a life in public health with a goal of positively impacting the lives of children and perpetuate safety awareness in generations to come.
