Dr. Kaefer is a professor of urology and has been on the faculty at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health since 1998. He is recognized both nationally and internationally for his achievements in basic and clinical research. He has received first-place recognition for his work at the American Urologic Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the European Society for Pediatric Urology.
Dr. Kaefer has published over 130 original manuscripts and 15 book chapters. He has been repeatedly named by his peers as one of “The Best Doctors in America”. He is academically prolific and has published his original work in the areas of genitourinary reconstruction, vesicoureteral reflux, bladder outlet obstruction, undescended testis, hypospadias, and prenatal hydronephrosis.
Dr. Kaefer annually leads an international group of urologists to Guatemala where his team has performed over 500 complex surgeries in the last 20 years. He has also been involved in outreach work involving the children of eastern Europe and Haiti.
