Luisa Cervantes, Pediatric radiologist
Dr. Cervantes is is a pediatric radiologist within the Department of Pediatric Radiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cervantes performs all aspects of pediatric radiology, with particular expertise in cardiovascular computed tomography (CT). She earned her medical degree with honors from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia’s School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia, and completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the same institution. Dr. Cervantes then pursued fellowship training in pediatric radiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in thoracic imaging at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Her clinical interests include cardiac CT, quality improvement and dose optimization to reduce radiation exposure to children undergoing CT procedures.
Dr. Cervantes is board certified in diagnostic radiology and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in pediatric radiology. In 2016, she received level II cardiac CT certification. Dr. Cervantes is a member of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR) and the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS). She is involved in teaching radiology residents and fellows, as well as pediatric residents.
Dr. Cervantes sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
