Dr. Joanna E. Perdomo
Pediatrician

Dr. Joanna Perdomo is a primary care pediatrician at the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Care Center, a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and the physician lead for food insecurity efforts at Nicklaus Children’s. She is a proud native Miamian. She earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Perdomo then completed residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics, which brings together the training programs of Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center, and was a member of their Leadership in Advocacy and Equity (LEAD) track (formerly known as the Urban Health and Advocacy Track). She then pursued a fellowship in general academic pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, during which time she earned a master of public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also served as an associate program director and the director of the LEAD track during her fellowship time.

Dr. Perdomo started her position in primary care at Nicklaus in January 2022. In addition to her clinical work in primary care, she also serves as the physician lead for food insecurity efforts at Nicklaus. Her clinical and academic interests include health equity, advocacy, and early childhood development. Dr. Perdomo is board certified in general pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and serves on the Continuing Certification Committee for the American Board of Pediatrics. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at national conferences.
