Gwen Erkonen is a pediatric intensivist with experience in both the CICU and the PICU. She recently joined the Nicklaus Children's faculty as the medical director of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT). Prior to moving to Miami she was on faculty at Texas Children's Hospital working in both the CICU and the PICU. She helped to develop the medical humanities program at TCH and has a significant research interest in narrative medicine and curriculum development. Prior to earning her MD at SIU School of Medicine, she was a special education teacher in Los Angeles and Chicago. She completed her pediatrics residency and pediatric critical care fellowship at University of Iowa where she also earned her masters in medical education.
