Dana McMakin, PhD
Dr. McMakin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University with a dual appointment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
As a clinical developmental neuroscientist, Dr. McMakin examines the impact of sleep on emotional functioning in adolescents with, or at risk for, mental health problems. Dr. McMakin’s research has been continuously funded since 2005 by both federal and foundation grants (e.g. NIH, PCORI, Klingenstein Foundation, Jacobs Foundation), and she has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles.
She serves as an ad-hoc grant reviewer to the National Institutes of Health, Associate Editor of the journal Sleep Advances, a member of the editorial board of the journal Behavior Therapy, and a scientific advisor for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
