Danette Beitra, Danette Beitra, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Beitra is a board certified specialist in clinical child and adolescent psychology within the Department of Psychology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Beitra earned her doctorate from Nova Southeastern University and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Texas Children’s Hospital affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Beitra then pursued a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical child and adolescent psychology with an emphasis in pediatric health at Children’s Health affiliated with the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Beitra is a member of numerous national and international organizations that contribute to the field of Psychology and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has also presented at both national and international conferences and is an active expert contributor on child development and adjustment concerns on a number of media platforms. Dr. Beitra specializes in working with children and families affected by chronic illness and provides consultation, evaluation, and intervention services within numerous multidisciplinary pediatric settings. Dr. Beitra supervises and teaches numerous psychology trainees from several graduate institutions in the South Florida region. Her primary clinical interests include adjustment, coping, quality of life, and resilience in response to life-threatening diagnoses.
