Daniel Licht, MD

Daniel Licht is a clinical child neurologist with specialization in the prevention of brain injury in infants with severe congenital heart defects. Dr. Licht graduated in 1984 with a Biochemistry degree from NYU. Dr. Licht attended medical school at the Newark campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His extended interests include acute and longitudinal care for infants with congenital heart defects, congenital diaphragm hernias, neurovascular cutaneous syndromes, stroke and fetal neurology. Dr. Licht was the director of the Wolfson Family laboratory for Clinical and Biomedical Optics which has been focused on how light diffuses through human tissues and how, in harnessing this light one can measure physiology previously unavailable to clinicians. Current instruments developed by the Wolfson Lab include the ability to measure brain oxygen consumption and delivery, intracranial pressure and whole brain water.
