Dr.Sainathan is a pediatric and congenital cardiac surgeon at Holtz's Children's Hospital and the University of Miami. He is the surgical director for pediatric cardiac transplant and mechanical circulatory support. He is also the surgical director of adult congenital heart disease. His cardiac surgery residency was at Yale University, followed by two additional specialized fellowships in cardiac surgery. The first was in cardiopulmonary transplantation and mechanical circulatory support at the University of Pittsburgh. The second was in pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is board certified in general, cardiothoracic, and congenital cardiac surgery by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He practices all aspects of congenital cardiac surgery, from neonates to adults. He is interested in complex neonatal cardiac surgery, biventricular conversion of univentricular lesions, cardiopulmonary transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. In addition, he had the opportunity to work with Dr. da Silva, the inventor of the cone procedure for Ebstein’s anomaly; as a result, he is interested in the surgical treatment of Ebstein’s anomaly. He is well-published in pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery.
