Domestic Violence
At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees are expected to: Understand the basic definition of domestic violence, identify the number of patients likely to be victims and/or perpetrators of domestic violence, describe screening procedures to assist in identifying victims and/or perpetrators of domestic violence, and be able to provide patients with information on local resources. Human Trafficking: Seeing the Unseen
Identify victims of human trafficking (including sex trafficking and labor trafficking) who present in the clinical setting, conduct an appropriate medical assessment of trafficking victims, be able to differentiate victims of human trafficking from other crimes (such as domestic abuse, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault), and be able to identify when to report cases of human trafficking and appropriately report to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
